"Of all the weapons in the vast soviet arsenal, nothing was more profitable than Avtomat Kalashnikova model of 1947. More commonly known as the AK-47, or Kalashnikov. It's the world's most popular assault rifle. A weapon all fighters love. An elegantly simple 9 pound amalgamation of forged steel and plywood. It doesn't break, jam, or overheat. It'll shoot whether it's covered in mud or filled with sand..." - Yuri Orlov / Lord of War
Like Yuri well summarises, so has Tokyo Marui with their new Type 3 AK47 rifle. This AK47 is what you might expect from Marui when it comes to AEG. The overall finish is superb. Outer parts are completely metal with really nice gun grey finish. The stock, grip and hand guards are good wood imitation plastic, much deeper darker then the previous AK-series have had. There is no wobble, shake, rattle etc. on the rifle none what so ever as the rifle feels like one piece when you pick it up the first time.
Well what has Marui done this time besides re-newed the outer shell of the gun? Well the biggest change is the Recoil-engine, which is familiar from for example the HK416-series. What this means is that the gun has actual recoil and when the magazine runs out, the gun will not fire until the magazine is changed and charging handle is pulled back, just like in the real one. Recoil-engine then produces recoil and visually this shows in the bolt which moves back and forth when the AK is been fired. Also due the recoil-engine, the gun procudes very nice clanking sound.
The second biggest renewing is the magazine, which ONLY works with this rifle. Due to it's design, the magazine is designed to stop the bolt and gun while the BBs run out of the magazine. Unfortunately the older next gen magazines (74rd) but there is something that will once again change the game for Marui. The gun comes with two adaptors which allow the user to use older, so called normal AEG AK magazines in this rifle. How ever the bolt-locking function does not work with the adapter, but you can use your older AK magazines. Magazine also has a feature where you can change between 90rd and 30rd for added realism.
AK47 does not really get better than this. If you require a gun that will last you the next 20 years, search no further.
